So what’s been happening?

It’s been a busy few months since my previous rant about my employer and line management. But it happened. I am now unemployed. But the way it happened was, as I said it would be, on my terms and not their’s.

They did offer further adjustments in the end; going part-time, switching roles, etc. but I had already had enough. There was no adjustment that they could make that would make my life any easier. The damage had already been done. And no matter what changes would be made they wouldn’t change the policy that would put me in the same situation again.

So I went off on long term sick, got rid of my union representation, got letters from my GP and specialist and approached the head of HR with an offer.

In short, I made their problem go away and mine. I even got a lump sum from them.

Whilst I was off from work I stuck in a DLA application. I completed it myself without getting any help (which, in hindsight, I would strongly recommend) and was awarded lower rate care. I was quite surprised at that since I was aiming for the mobility aspect.

A few days after that I got told I didn’t have Systemic Lupus…. I have Fibromyalgia. So they changed all my meds…

About two weeks after that it was all change again. It’s Lupus AND Fibro.

So what about it? I’ve decided that it can be called whatever they like because, it doesn’t matter what it’s called, I’m still in pain, still having crippling headaches, still struggling to get through each day with diminishing spoons.

James, my son, is now 2.

Terrible 2.

He has spent this morning watching “Ice Age” 1, 2 & 3 whilst stomping around the lounge shouting “RAAAHHHH” thinking he’s a dinosaur. It’s all very cute but significantly less so when you started the day with a migraine that has progressively developed into something worse.

Other than the usual mundane stuff I have actually rebuilt my kitchen from the brickwork. But that’s another entry (complete with photos).
